AAA-meeting 1998, Philadelphia

The Anthropology of Religion section is soliciting proposals for ARS-sponsored Invited Sessions at the 1998 AAA meeting in Philadelphia. Especially welcome are panels that address the problem of belief in the anthropological study of religion; defining religion; anthropological studies of New Religious Movements (New Age, Wica, neo-shamanism, astrology, and so on); Pentecostalism; "secularization;" new theories; tribal and world religions; comparative studies; mythology; cognition and ritual studies.
Stephen D. Glazier (Nebraska) will chair the Program Committee. Stewart Guthrie (Fordham) and James Peacock (North Carolina) will serve as reviewers.
Preference will be given to complete proposals. All proposals for Invited Sessions must include a title and an abstract for the session, names and affiliations of presenters, paper titles, names and affiliations of the organizers, the session chair, and discussants.
