Whenever this documentary movie was shown (e. g. Japanology conference, Florence), it earned great enthusiasm from the spectators. Claude Gagnon (director) and A. Pelletier (camera) managed to express what is most important: the high esteem of these Japanese rice farmers for what they constructively do. They come together and - every year anew - within their village shrine, create everthesame symbol of THEIR OWN traditional world-view, or ontology, create the objectively concrete nucleus of THEIR OWN highest values. In this sense - paradoxically - the movie may be one of the most 'objective' documentaries about religion.
